TECOPA, CA - MAY 22 - Travis walks away into the morning sun to start his day on the farm. He has stressed the importance of getting his work done early before the unbearable desert heat sets in.
Travis manages a family-owned date farm located in Tecopa, California. However, earlier this year, a series of intense "monsoon" weather patterns, brought about by recent atmospheric rivers, unleashed severe floods that inflicted substantial damage upon the farm. Sadly, this incident is just one of many extreme weather events that have rendered the maintenance of the farm nearly insurmountable. As Travis struggles with the mounting expenses and labor required to sustain his farm amidst more frequent extreme weather events, major polluters are reaping record profits.
